What We Don't Like

The Easy Cot has definitely been well tailored for the minimalist or beginners camping group. If, however, you’re looking for something with a little more comfort then this may not be the cot for you. It is basically just a frame with some fabric thrown across it’s top.

Despite its simplicity the steel frame of the cot does make it rather heavy and awkward to carry. Thus, it is still a perfect cot for car camping but is definitely not a great option for those who want to go overnight hiking trips.

Like seriously, we challenge you to try carrying the heavy weight of this 25 pound cot around in your back pack for a day. In addition to being quite heavy itself this camping cot cannot support a ridiculously heavy weight. There are cots on the market that can support up to 600 pounds but the Easy Cot can only support about half of that.

Of course, the weight support will not be a problem for most people, but if you are used to squishing two people on one camping cot then this isn’t the cot for you. Also, for those likely to heavy items on top of their cots during the day (many of my friends use camping cots like shelves) then the weight limit should be kept in mind.

The Easy Cot is best used by single children or adults on car transported camping trips. So long as those are the parameters, this cot is fantastic.

What We Don’t Like

In addition to the high price negative, this cot is also physically quite heavy which makes it non-ideal for those moving from one campsite to another often (e.g. for overnight tramping expeditions).

The 300lb weight shouldn’t be a problem for regular camping trips though, and the folding cot dimensions are very reasonable for transport. It’s probably one of the best folding beds out there for camp use.

The final negative about this cot was also listed as a positive, because it really depends on the users as to whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. The aspect we’re talking about is size. If you are a large person, then the wide size of the cot may be a blessing.

If, however you are of shorter or leaner stature and have a smaller tent to boot, then the large dimensions of this cot may be obtrusive to you and it shouldn’t be considered one of the best cots for tent camping in that case.

What We Like

The Kamp-Rite Tent Cot's frame is constructed out of aluminium – a metal known for its weight to strength ratio. By using that metal the creators of the Kamp-Rite have made their cot both durable and easy to carry around.

Even the nuts of the Kamp-Rite are made from aluminium, helping to ensure that they don’t rust when you go out camping in harsher wet weather conditions. Oh, they’re anti-vibration nuts too! This makes for a ‘non-riggidy’ sleeping environment.

The outer shell of the tent when fully zipped up is completely insect proof, something which reviewers in mosquito ridden areas have found particularly helpful. Fortunately, parts of the tent are meshed so even when it’s all zipped up there is still plenty of air flow. 

The fabric of the actual cot, the part you’ll be sleeping on, is also built to last with a high quality Cordura nylon type fabric having been used.

We especially love that this camping cot comes with its own custom made heavy-duty carry bag. As the cot is relatively large compared to other cots it could have been difficult to find an appropriate bag. Owners appreciate that it simply comes with one.

What We Don’t Like

For those who are going to be setting up a whole different tent anyway (in addition to their Kamp-Rite) the hassle simply may not be worth it. Although the Kamp-Rite is easy to setup, most of its purpose is defeated if you place it within a bigger tent anyway.

What We Like

There’s a lot to like about the Teton Camping Cot.

You truly can count on getting a good night’s sleep every night if you choose to buy this cot. The sleeping area is massive – about the size of a twin mattress, but raised off the ground for protection from the cold.

The whole cot also folds up and down easily which is very convenient for those who are intending to move camp often (e.g. hikers). The 42” x 12” x 7” packed up size could probably be transported in a grown adult’s camping backpack without too much hassle.

The Teton brand definitely seem impressed with their own handiwork I this cot, and are well to stand behind it. The cot actually comes with a lifetime warranty! 

That’s a huge endorsement to any practical buyer.

What We Don't Like

Apart from a few gripes about the stiffness of the bed/fabric for those with sensitive backs, there’s really not much to report on the negative side for the Teton. The stiffness has been an issue for some users though, and as such we highly recommend that you do get a mattress (like the super compatible Teton Outfitters Camping Pad) to pair with this camping cot.

If we really had to pick it apart then we could probably also complain about the lack of color range for this cot. Not everyone in a fan of black Teton. Provide more options please!
